A medical physicist from Manila received the 2017 Miss Philippines-Earth crown in ceremonies staged at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday evening.
Karen Ibasco, 26, bested 39 other candidates to the receive the title from her predecessor Loren Mar Artajos.
She's advocating of conserving energy and embracing renewable and sustainable sources of it.

Ibasco will now represent the Philippines in the international Miss Earth 2017 pageant to be staged in Manila in November.
Kim de Guzman from Olongapo, meanwhile, was procaimed Miss Philippines-Air, and Jessica Marasigan from Caloocan was crowned Miss Philippines-Water.
Nella Bautista from Villanueva, Minami Oriental, was hailed as Miss Philippines-Fire, while Vanessa Mae Castillo from Lobo, Batangas, received the Miss Philippines-Ecotourism title.
The five winners will serve as as ambassadors for protecting the environment and will promote projects that help save our Mother earth.
