Two days before leaving for Japan, the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team saw one of its key players beg off.
PVL All-Filipino Conference 2023 Best Libero Kath Arado has begged off from the team, citing the need to recover from injuries she sustained from the recently-concluded tournament.
Replacing PLDT’s defensive specialist is Akari’s Bang Pineda.
PNVF national team committee chairman Tony Boy Liao confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
Arado was part of last year’s Southeast Asian Games team.
The other libero on the team is Creamline’s Kyla Atienza.
Other members of the team are Jia De Guzman, Celine Domingo, Jema Galanza, Tots Carlos, and Michele Gumabao of Creamline; Gel Cayuna and Glaudine Troncoso from Cignal; Dell Palomata from PLDT; Cherry Nunag and Kat Tolentino from Choco Mucho, and Mylene Paat from Chery Tiggo.
The PWNVT leaves for Japan on Thursday for a camp that will end on April 28.
The Philippines will face Vietnam, Cambodia and Singapore in Group B of the continental meet set to begin on May 1.
