New teams Gerflor and Farm Fresh will be tested in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference starting June 29.
The two new teams are set to battle it out to swell to 10 contenders including the reigning All-Filipino champion Creamline Cool Smashers, PLDT High Speed Hitters, Chery Tiggo Crossovers Akari Chargers, Petro Gazz Angels, F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, Cignal HD Spikers, and Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
The Army Lady Troopers will temporarily rest due to the absence of players who are currently in military service.
PVL President Ricky Palou expects the two new teams that have promised to compete in the league to last a long time in the league.
Gerflor is set to be led by former Cignal coach and National University Nazareth School boys volleyball chief tactician Edgar Barroga, while two-time National Collegiate Athletic Association champion from the College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers and third placer Adamson University Lady Falcons will lead Farm Fresh in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Jerry Yee.
The 10 teams from Pool A consisting of Creamline PLDT, Chery Tiggom Akari and Gerflor have been split into two groups, while Angels, Cargo Movers, HD Spikers, Flying Titans and Farm Fresh are in Pool B.
The two teams from Japan and Australia will compete that will surely provide more intense action when they arrive in the country.
