Former National University women’s volleyball team libero Jen Nierva is set to make her debut in the upcoming conference of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) this June as she commits to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
The team revealed the development on social media Saturday, May 27, with the 23-year-old libero becoming one of the first five new signings for the Crossovers.
“Player #19, our new libero! Ready to join #CHERYonTOP,” the post said.
Nierva is coming off a painful final year in the UAAP following the Lady Bulldogs’ defeat at the hands of the De La Salle Lady Spikers.
She, however, steered NU to its first championship title after a 65-year drought in Season 84 after a rare and historic 16-0 sweep that eventually led her to win the Best Libero plum.
In Season 85, Nierva finished second in the Best Receivers category behind eventual Best Libero Bernadette Pepito of the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses. She also placed fifth in the Digging department.
Nierva will be beefing up the lineup of the Crossovers, with EJ Laure and Mylene Paat already in tow for the next conference.
The Crossovers hope to erase the stigma of a disappointing finish in the All-Filipino Conference last March, where they missed out on the semifinals and finished fifth in the standings.
