Womens World Cup result: Filipinas beat New Zealand

The Philippines finally have something in common with the majority of other countries at the the 2023 World Cup: they have won a match, sensationally beating co-hosts New Zealand 1-0 in Wellington on Tuesday.

SARA Eggesvik teed up a Sarina Bolden shot for the Philippines’ first goal and Olivia McDaniel preserved the first win for the Filipinas, which got football crazy fans and even casual sports enthusiasts on social media jubilation.

It is the Women’s World Cup, and the Philippines made history with three points from two matches, getting one on the win column by beating the co-host New Zealand in Wellington.

VAR, meanwhile, draws flak again as the Football Ferns’ equalizer is disallowed.
