F2 Logistics seeks to leave everything on the floor as it eyes its second straight bronze in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) against Cignal in the battle for third of the Invitational Conference on Sunday at Philsports Arena.
After ending their three-game slump in the semifinal round against Vietnam’s Kinh Bac-Bac Ninh, Cargo Movers coach Regine Diego hopes to finish strong in their final game of the midseason tournament.
“Same thing with any other game, we’re going to prepare. We will play and fight. Maybe it’s just part of the journey or maybe that’s the destination. Whatever happens, we win or we learn,” said Diego in Filipino.
Majoy Baron, who dropped 20 points including four blocks in their four-set win over the Vietnamese club, is determined to make the most of their chance to reach the podium for the undermanned Cargo Movers sans Kianna Dy for the past three games due to a knee injury.
“Of course, it doesn’t feel good to lose consecutive games. Our mindset is to take our remaining chances,” said Baron in Filipino. “I’m very happy because we got our ticket to the battle for bronze. For me, I just want to give what I can contribute to the team and step up because we’re missing some players which is not an excuse not to fight.”
From a strong start in Pool B, the Cargo Movers bombed out of final contention after losing their first three games in the semis and finished with a 2-3 record to forge a battle for third with the HD Spikers.
Diego embraces the struggles of her team in her second conference as a professional volleyball coach.
“Maybe we are still new in the podium, this is part of what makes a champion. These struggles will make us stronger. These struggles will mold us into becoming better than what we were before. I’m happy that we get to get through this,” the youthful F2 coach said.
“Even there are a lot of people are not believing in us. We just have to believe in ourselves. I’m happy to see the light again. That hope was very important for us,” she added.
