Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach ended her reign on Monday, January 30, by passing on the coveted crown to Miss France Iris Mattenaere, the first French delegate to win the title in over 60 years.
While all eyes were on the new Miss Universe, Pia found her way to the back part of the stage to hug Miss Philippines Maxine Medina.
Many were touched by the gesture from the former Miss Universe, who has always expressed her support for the Philippines’ delegate to this year’s pageant.
Beauty queen mentor Jonas Gaffud of Mercator Artist and Model Management also posted about the moment.
